My main interest is in Canadian Military Pattern (CMP) vehicles, and in particular, Chevrolets made by General Motors. I have restored two of these, a C60S, 3-Ton, 134 inch Wheelbase, 4x4 with General Service (GS) body, and a C8A Heavy Utility Wireless (HUW), 8 cwt, 101 inch Wheelbase, 4x4.
There is still quite a lot of finishing-off to do with both vehicles. The photographs below show some 'before' and 'after' shots of both.
The CLARKAIR CA-1 Air-Transportable Bulldozer in the bottom photograph is a future restoration project.
Chevroltet C60S
As and where I found it approximately 300 kilometres from home. Some surface rust only and a good, straight, solid chassis frame to build on.
C60S
Some time and much hard work later
C60S-A lot of work and many months later and a lot more hard work
C60S-Present stage of restoration - still a lot of little things to add and do.
C8A (HUW)
Early stages of restoration. When obtained, the chassis frame had been lengthened by adding a section in the centre. This had to be removed to bring the wheelbase back to the original 101 inch. None of the original body was available except the cabin area which had been cut off behind the door opening.
C8A (HUW)-Slowly getting there!
C8A (HUW)
Thanks to the tremendous help from other restorers around the world, (Roy Wellburn, Canada; Paul Bodifee, Netherlands; and Nick Bullock, England) who supplied me with drawings, photographs, measurements, etc., the new bodywork came together.
